My Saab is a 1986 900 turbo with >242000 miles on the clock, Rose Quartz with burgundy cloth interior. The car was originally purchased in Germany on the European delivery plan
by a local doctor when he was in the Air Force. I acquired the car in 1999 from the mechanic who rebuilt the engine at 155000 miles. It is a great car and has been very
reliable (especially after installing a new distributor!).
Modifications and updates:
- All (almost) vacuum lines replace with blue silicone
- New Balo front rotors with PBR pads
- SPG Springs (thanks JvA)
- New Boge Turbo shocks front and rear with poly bushings.
- New alternator with poly bushings.
- Modified APC box (got a spare on eBay for $15.00!)
- 1983 grille to replace broken original grille
- Modified air intake with Ractive cone filter (ala Perry Ellingtion's 86 900T)
- Skid plate from 900S
- Deleted A/C Thermal switch from upper radiator hose. Installed one piece hose
from Andrew's of Princeton (part #??????)
- Fixed cold start idle hunt with 600 ohm resistor in series with NTC sensor (from
old Nines article, if anyone has a link to it, email me.
- 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator (thanks to John at Saab Savior )
- Alpine CDM7835 stereo with 6-disc changer in trunk
- 6x9 3-way rear speakers in stock locations with adapters (what a difference!!)
- 125 watt/chan. amp for rears under back seat.
- Blaupunkt PCi540 5.25" component speakers mounted in front door panels.
(similar to Jouko's 1990)
